Equipment may help reduce risk of concussion. It is important to note that equipment can also create a false sense of security.
Does your program:
- Utilize helmets with newer technology designed to reduce energy transferred to the brain?
- Follow all equipment reconditioning guidelines suggested by manufacture and governing bodies?
- Ensure proper helmet fit? To learn how to properly fit a helmet, watch this CDC video, narrated by SLI co-founder Chris Nowinski.
Note: studies have not yet provided strong evidence that mouthguards reduce risk of concussion.
